Paul was living in a hostel and looking for work when, in 2017, he was struck by a car while crossing a busy road. The collision changed his life. He suffered multiple injuries, including a serious brain injury, and suddenly needed others to help make decisions about his care and future.

Louise was born prematurely more than ten years ago and has grown up with cerebral palsy, needing care and support with everyday life. Her family’s journey began before she was born, when her mother, Claire, was 26 weeks pregnant and involved in a serious road traffic collision. What initially appeared to be an incident Claire had escaped without serious injury would have lifelong consequences for Louise and her family.

Jennifer, 59, worked as a care and support personal assistant and enjoyed walking, gardening, painting and spending time in her studio. In January 2023, while travelling to work, she was involved in a serious road traffic collision and suddenly found herself relying on her family for everyday tasks.

John, a regional business development manager and grandfather, enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family. While travelling along a dual carriageway, he was forced off the road by a van. The vehicle and its driver were never traced, leaving John seriously injured and with no identified insurer from which to seek compensation.

After a devastating motorbike collision in 2021 that left him with life-changing injuries, John Webber received specialist rehabilitation support through Minster Law, helping him regain independence and eventually return to riding. Since settling his claim in 2023, he has become a peer supporter for trauma survivors and plans a four-country fundraising ride in 2026 to support charities that helped his recovery.

At nearly ten years old, a young boy who suffered a severe brain injury because of an avoidable delay during his birth finally has access to round-the-clock specialist care and a home adapted to his needs. This was made possible by a settlement secured by CLA member firm Fletchers Solicitors, which will help meet the cost of his care for the rest of his life.
